Seven lakes, and a town that keeps its own pace
A small town in southern Vojvodina where the summer is measured in swims, shade and long walks taken once the heat has finally dropped out of the afternoon.

Bela Crkva is a small town in southern Vojvodina, best known for the seven lakes scattered around its edges. They shape the season here: swimming in the morning, shade in the afternoon, long walks once the heat drops and the occasional day given over entirely to doing nothing at all on the shore. The nearest of them is about 500 m from the house, which is close enough to go twice in a day.
The town itself rewards a slow wander. Low streets, handsome older buildings and a centre small enough to cross in a few minutes make it pleasant to explore without a plan. Park Bela Crkva sits roughly 1.5 km away for a longer stretch of green, and beyond the town the hills around Vrsac and the wider landscapes of the Banat region make comfortable day trips.
For planning a few days here, the Bela Crkva Tourist Organization keeps an overview of local events and the lakes, and the Museum of Bela Crkva makes a good stop on a cooler day when the water is less tempting.
